Statement to Community Members Demonstrating in Walsenburg, CO
“I’m so sorry I could not be here in person with you today. But please know how grateful I am that each of you are here to stand up for our neighbors and for the rule of law.
Like you, I’m deeply concerned at federal immigration enforcement occurring in our state that – contrary to what the Trump Administration continues to say – is not prioritizing pursuing violent criminal offenders, but instead is targeting students, workers, family members, our neighbors who have no criminal histories.
I’ve sued this White House and its agencies over 30 times – because they continue to act as thought they are above the law. And I’ll continue to do so when this Administration breaks our laws and harms Coloradans.
Thank you for standing firm for these principles – and I’ll continue to closely monitor ICE’s activities to ensure our laws are not cast aside and people are hurt as a result.”
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser – 8/15/2025
