We’re Protesting in Walsenburg on 8/1 and 8/15!

7/27 UPDATE: Make plans to go with our group Friday, Aug 1 (11am-1pm) to Walsenburg City Hall to protest the opening of an ICE facility there. This is an ICE detention center protest. There will be carpools – Let us know if you need a seat by clicking the Contact Us button above. Colorado Springs 50501 volunteer security staff will be joining us at the protest.

The Walsenburg group has weekly protests from 11am to 1pm at their City town hall. The group is under intense pressure right now. Their mayor and City Counsel are supporting a contract with CoreCivic to reopen their prison as an ICE concentration detention facility! The mayor refuses to listen to any protest of the situation, stating he’s bringing industry to the town!!

Grassroots has decided to gather members and travel to Walsenburg for protests on Aug 1 and Aug 15 against the opening of this ICE facility. Aug 1 is from 11am to 1pm at their town hall with ICE signs. Aug 15 is different: 12 noon to 1pm at the closed prison site for mostly media coverage of our protests against ICE coming to Colorado. TV and news will be there to throw the situation into the headlines.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!! Pueblo Indivisible and Fremont Indivisible are asking their people for support! This is how solidarity forms when we group together for the resistance! WE NEED YOU!! We will post more information on carpools and locations when we get closer to the dates. Our regular 1 hour Saturday protests will continue at Abriendo & 4th from 10:30am to 11:30am on the corner near Walgreens.

Thank you from Val and Margie!
